Not The Mind Probe

A Doctor Who podcast featuring Harlan Landes, a long-time fan of the original and new series, plus occasional guests.

About Not The Mind Probe

The first time I saw Doctor Who was probably about 30 years ago. I was very young, and I was hooked on the show thanks to its science-fiction nature, cute companions, and moody bass clarinet music. I watched the show so much as a five or six year old, my younger brother’s first words were hahr-whoo, (obviously “Doctor Who,”) spoken with his finger pointed at the screen during the show’s opening credits.

Doctor Who was a part of my life for a long time. I religiously videotaped every episode aired by New Jersey Network late at night and kept the library for about 10 years. In middle school and early high school, I was a member of the Prydonians of Prynceton, a local fan club.

From 1990 through 2005 I experienced a long period of depression, cured by Russell T Davies and BBC Wales.

I’ve decided to bring my love for Doctor Who to the internet officially in the form of a podcast. One of my favorite lines from Doctor Who comes from the episode entitled The Five Doctors. The Castellan uttered emphatically, when about to be tortured, “No, not the mind probe.” The delivery was… interesting, and the lines served as a summation for my friends of the campiness of Doctor Who.
